KPDSB Teachers Venture to Fort Severn
Our amazing trip to Fort Severn was a whirlwind lifetime experience. Our adventures began in Sioux Lookout when we boarded a small Pilatus PC-12 (8 passengers). We were welcomed by the friendly community and treated to a delicious feast of local foods and desserts. We were able to travel a small way North to see where the Severn River meets the Hudson Bay and try and we might we did not see a polar bear. The Northern lights shone brightly all night and what a spectacle it was!
Our second day in the community we had the pleasure of visiting with the staff and students of Fort Severn School. What a gorgeous building it is! We were able to work with the students in their classes and visit with the friendly and knowledgeable staff about their school and the surrounding community. The smiles and light in these children’s eyes were truly magical. You can tell they love to be at school learning and growing with their teachers and support staff. IT was a truly magical experience that ended far too soon. We were truly thankful for this amazing opportunity to build relationships and partnerships with the Fort Severn community.
